STENCIL INSTRUCTIONS
There are a lotta ways to make a stencil. We think this is the easiest and best method.

1. PRINT
Print out this page. Regular paper is swell. All of our stencils will fit on a 8.5” x 11” sheet, unless noted otherwise. If you want a bigger stencil (and we approve), you can blow up the image at a copy store.

2. STRENGTH
Best) We recommend that you print out the image on regular paper and then laminate it. (Your local copy store can do this.) Lamination makes the stencil strong and it's easy to cut.

Second Best) You can print onto regular copier paper and, using spray-adhesive, glue it onto cardstock, posterboard or a thin cardboard.

Third Best) At a copy store, there is a ‘transparency’ stock that works pretty well. It cuts easy but it is not stiff. (You’d need to tape it to a wall. Not good for a quick dodge.

3. CUT IT
You could use a chainsaw but it’s easiest to use an exacto-type knife, the one that looks like a metal pencil with a sharp blade on the end. This is best for detail and curves. Go slow. Be safe. Put something underneath the stencil so you don’t cut up your laptop lid or the dining room table.

4. SPRAY IT
First) Make sure no one is looking.
Second) Use a matte spray paint because glossy will glare out and reflect (unless that’s part of the design.) You can also use spray chalk.
Third) Hold the stencil flat to the surface. (Tape it, if you have the time.)
Fourth) Spray it. Slow and easy is best.

5. CONSIDERATION
Obey local laws. Be considerate of others. Make art.
